A note from Pastor Lauren Bruno
Welcome to St. John's!
Let me introduce myself: I was called as Pastor of St. John's in August of 2021, and I'm excited to be here, and to see what the Holy Spirit will do in this community. I grew up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac, MD. I joined the ELCA in 2013, and graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Classical Languages and Literature in 2014. I went on to serve as a student and then an intern at a variety of churches, urban, suburban, and rural, and graduated from United Lutheran Seminary's Philadelphia campus in 2018. I was called to serve at St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Philadelphia in the summer of 2018, before coming to St. John's in 2021. I'm passionate about preaching, pastoral care, and teaching, and in my spare time, I love to go hiking with my husband, Andrew, our baby daughter, and our two mischievous dogs, Benji and Suki.
As you visit St. John's, we hope you find what you're looking for. Here at St. John's, you'll find that you're welcome no matter who you are or where you come from. We find that the Church is a better place with you - with the particular gifts and personality you bring to the table as we gather with Christ. We're always growing and learning how to better love God and love our neighbor - and that is the core of our identity. Our mission is to share the love and teachings of Jesus through worship, witness, and actions - and we'd love for you to be a part of it.
Don't hesitate to reach out! I'd love to meet you, and talk about how we can better love God and our neighbor. Call the church office, and we can chat on the phone, share a cup of coffee, or find another way to connect.
I wish you every blessing in your journey!
Your co-worker in Christ,
Pastor Lauren
